Responsibilities
The Tax Accountant position involves working with a team of tax professionals to ensure timely filing of sales and use tax returns, business taxes, property taxes and income taxes. Additionally, this position includes specific projects associated with large business tax analysis and calculations relating to compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
This is position is located at our corporate office in Westmont, IL and requires 3-5 days a week onsite
- Prepare and process sales & use tax returns for multiple state and local jurisdictions
- Research product taxability by jurisdiction and document findings
- Review and analyze transactions as they relate to tax issues
- Provide tax consultants with an accurate listing of assets, inventory and locations to be used to file personal property tax renditions
- Coordinate personal property tax audits with tax consultants, provide requested data, and schedule onsite inspections with shop managers
- Ensure the timely payment of property tax bills
- Respond to taxing authority notices and inquiries
- Reconcile sales and property tax general ledger accounts
- Work with Tax Team to implement best practices and processes
- Work with Tax Team on sales/use and property tax decisions and determinations based on research, industry trends and changing laws
- Work with accounting team members to ensure departmental deadlines are met and objectives are achieved
- Other tax compliance, tax projects, tax research, tax issues and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary
- Experience in Accounting or Finance
- Strong Microsoft Office and Excel proficiency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to set priorities and respond to changing demands
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Eagerness to learn new processes, systems, functions
- Patience in dealing with teammates / stakeholders
- Experience with sales & use and property taxes a plus
