About the Position
As a liaison between Amavi Cellars and the public, a Tasting Room Associate should show hospitality, integrity, efficiency, and a growing understanding of our wines. Along with hospitality as the focus, a Tasting Room Associate follows food safety guidelines when plating our charcuterie boards and general cleaning in the Tasting Room. This position is a great introduction into the wine industry, getting to assist with fulfillment of wine club and eCommerce orders as necessary, including: pulling, packing, and processing wine orders for delivery. Daily tasks include pouring and selling the wines and wine club to visiting guests along with simple food plating and general cleaning in the Tasting Room. Provide accurate information about our wine club and mailing list, and encourage guests to sign up. Candidates must be 21 years old, have or obtain a MAST card and a Walla Walla County Health Department Food Handler permit. Hours may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and physical requirements include the ability to carry 50+ pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

In the Tasting Room is where our Tasting Room associates shines as the company's ambassadors to the public and should provide an experience that gives a genuine, positive and lasting connection between our guests and the winery. Our ideal candidate is passionate about wine, eager to learn and with a great eye for detail while creating a memorable connection with our guests and club members. Successful Tasting Room Associates must always have a positive, can-do attitude and work best with peers to provide excellent and accommodating customer service. Excellent communication skills, customer service skills, sales skills, and the ability to prioritize while handling multiple tasks is required. Be friendly, courteous, and capable of interacting with a wide variety of personalities in a professional and polite manner. Continually develop a deep understanding of our wines and a dedicated team member.
Seasonal Timeline: March to November
The nature of the customer service and the wine industry in Walla Walla tends to slow a great deal after fall release, November 4th, 2024. There is some opportunity for shifts after this date during the winter months and staff will be welcomed back in the spring if interested.
Position Requirements:
- · Qualifications: 1+ years of customer service experience required (retail/hospitality preferred)
- · Scheduling: Must be able to work various days of the week, including primarily weekends and holidays as needed. Must be available at least 15 hours per week and up to 30 hours per week.
- · Physical: Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
- · Able to work as part of a team
- · Must be at least 21 years of age
- · MAST Class 12 Permit required
- · Food Handlers Card
- · High School diploma or equivalent
- · History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
- · Knowledge of wine and wine industry – Washington wine knowledge highly preferred.
