Title: Talent Acquisition Specialist
Location: Hybrid (Remote, City-Wide Chicago)
Schedule: 8:30a-5p, Monday - Friday
Summary:Under the general guidance of the Director of Talent Acquisition Services, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for the full-life Talent Acquisition cycle. Talent Acquisition Specialists partner with hiring managers and successfully implements all stages in the Talent Acquisition cycle including but not limited to Talent Acquisition, sourcing, interviewing and selecting qualified candidates ensuring all Talent Acquisition activities comply with organization policies, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Talent Acquisition Specialists researches, identifies and recommends appropriate traditional and non-traditional recruiting sources to fill job vacancies and builds a pool of qualified candidates. Talent Acquisition Specialists participate in job fairs, professional conferences and community events and conducts presentations to build brand awareness and promote career opportunities. Talent Acquisition Specialists must understand how to use data in the analyses of the Talent Acquisition life cycle to measure the effectiveness of the recruiting sources and implements improved strategies to ensure overall Talent Acquisition objectives are met.
The Talent Acquisition Specialist leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of Heartland Alliance. Supports culture development and management efforts.
Essential Functions:
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Talent Acquisition life cycle: Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the Talent Acquisition process.
  • Conducts job posting and advertisement processes.
  • Screens applications and selects qualified candidates.
  • Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
  • Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers, directors, and other stakeholders when needed.
  • Follows up with successful candidates and updates the organization’s internal records
  • Follows up with onboarding team to ensure smooth and professional onboarding experience
  • Acts as a point of contact and builds influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
  • Identifies talent for positions that are more senior in level or have a higher level of complexity from both internal and external sources and engages in direct candidate sourcing activities with a keen focus on diverse talent pipelines.
  • Consults on selection decisions and offers frequently involving/negotiating complex compensation, terms and conditions as well as providing strong consultation to management on recruiting and Human Resources policy.
  • Completes all process requirements including dispositioning candidates, and ensuring compliance with all policy and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration:

  • Develops and maintains partnerships with hiring managers and leadership to enforce Talent Acquisition strategies and HR policies, ensures clarity in the Talent Acquisition process, eliminates barriers, drives efficiency, and pushes for results
  • Collaborates and consults in a matrixed environment with recruiting colleagues and other internal partners
  • Provide peer coaching and mentoring to other Talent Acquisition Specialists
  • Leads and represents the team on projects and key initiatives
  • Coordinates with department managers to forecast future hiring needs
  • Updates Talent Acquisition team and managers about changes in regulations
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions, hiring criteria and during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.

Administrative:

  • Creates regular data-based reports and communicates outcomes to the rest of the team:
  • Keeps tracks of requisitions, vacancies, pipeline, statistics, KPIs, and creates trackers on the organization level
  • Creates procurement documents and reviews contracts for Talent Acquisition services
  • Sets and achieves challenging goals; Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.
  • Represents the organization at Job Fairs and built relationship with external parties regarding Job Fairs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organization Development or related discipline required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of Talent Acquisition experience required.
  • Experience in the nonprofit organization and healthcare sector is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual-Spanish is strongly preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is preferred.
  • SHRM’s Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A):

  • Ability to conduct cold calls and behavioral based interviews in small and large settings.
  • Experience recruiting for various geographical locations and positions.
  • Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills. Strong networker, convener, relationship builder and communicator with experience collaborating with and presenting to diverse work teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information possessing skills to handle situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • A high degree of collaboration and emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Heartland Alliance. Knowledge of Taleo preferred.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strategic thought partnership and consultancy skills.

Work Arrangement:
This role is eligible for a “hybrid” work arrangement. It is expected this person would be able to meet for “in person” meetings when needed or at the request of others. In-person meetings and Job Fairs may be required on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.).
