We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Biller specializing in Pediatrics to join our team in a remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have expertise in pediatric medical billing processes, with preference given to candidates with experience using PCC and OP EMR systems. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, providing support to our clients while ensuring accurate and timely billing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Medical Billing: Process and submit medical claims accurately and efficiently for services rendered, including office visits, procedures, immunizations, and diagnostic tests. Ensure adherence to payer guidelines, coding regulations, and pediatric-specific billing requirements.
- Coding: Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to pediatric diagnoses, procedures, and services in accordance with coding guidelines and documentation. Review medical records and encounter notes to ensure accurate code selection and documentation of services provided.
- Claims Management: Monitor the status of submitted claims, follow up on outstanding claims, and resolve claim rejections, denials, and billing discrepancies, in a timely manner. Communicate with payers to address claim issues, appeal denied claims, and ensure maximum reimbursement for pediatric services.
- Payment Posting and Reconciliation: Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately to patient accounts and reconcile payments received with expected reimbursements. Identify and resolve discrepancies between payments and billed amounts, and pursue collections for outstanding balances as needed.
- Revenue Cycle Analysis: Generate and analyze revenue cycle reports, including accounts receivable aging, denial trends, and key performance indicators. Identify opportunities for process improvement, revenue enhancement, and optimization of pediatric billing operations.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, payer policies, and coding guidelines relevant to pediatric billing. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of billing activities, audits, and compliance efforts.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing, with a focus on pediatric billing preferred.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, with experience using PCC and OP EMR systems strongly preferred.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification or Certified Pediatric Coder (CPEDC) certification is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of medical billing processes, coding principles, and reimbursement methodologies, particularly as they pertain to pediatric services.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. This is a client-facing role.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with team members and healthcare providers, effectively manage your time and ensure a high degree of productivity.
