GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
As a System Administrator in DBE’s IT Team you will be responsible for installing and configuring software, hardware and networks, monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues, while ensuring the security and efficiency of our IT infrastructure. This role will actively work to resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company. System Administrators provide valuable contributions to the product, operations, and research teams by guiding them and resolving IT based issues. You will aid the Director, IT on the maintenance of the software, IT infrastructure, user desktops, and keep the technical details of IT in line to the vision of DBE.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
In order of importance – Include frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.)
- Install, configure and maintain LAN and WAN system hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.)
- Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications
- Monitoring system performance to ensure that everything runs smoothly and securely
- Researching and recommending new approaches to improve the networked computer system to promote the IT infrastructure and wellbeing of the company
- Install and configure software and hardware, managing network servers and technology tools
- Set up accounts and workstations for new hires and/or position changes
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner
- Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
- Documenting any processes which employees need to follow to successfully work within our computing system
- Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
- Collaborates with other employees as needed as they relate to all IT processes
- Other duties as directed by supervisor

EDUCATION & TRAINING
- Bachelor's degree (Ba/BSc) from four-year college or university; Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to Four years of database, network administration, or system administration experience, required.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans.
- Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices.
- Knowledge of basic electronics principles

- Ability to craft and deliver clear written communication, with great attention to detail
