Systems Administrator

Salary: $140k-$150k

Overview: 

cyDaptiv Solutions is seeking a Systems Administrator with a strong background in supporting Federal and DoD cybersecurity and Information Assurance (IA) projects. The Senior Systems Engineer should possess experience in evaluating the security posture of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems within medium to enterprise scale environments. Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), security principles, concepts, policies, and regulations is essential. The candidate should be able to identify risks in IT and OT systems, collaborating with system administrators and engineers to resolve security weaknesses.  

 

Systems Administrator Responsibilities: 

• Ensure the integrity and optimal operation of client’s data systems. 

• Utilizing your in-depth knowledge of VMware technologies to manage virtualization, resource allocation, and performance optimization, enhancing our infrastructure. 
• Conducting comprehensive assessments of systems using leading-edge tools such as ACAS/Nessus, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), and Manual STIGs. 
• Identifying and prioritizing cyber risks, leading efforts to mitigate vulnerabilities and maintain the highest level of system security. 
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to recommend and implement robust security controls and procedures throughout the information systems lifecycle. 
• Proactively monitoring and analyzing information systems for security incidents and vulnerabilities, implementing effective solutions. 

• Developing monitoring capabilities and generating reports on incidents, vulnerabilities, and emerging trends to support informed decision-making. 
• Contributing to system configuration and hardening by implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and applying critical OS and application patches. 
• Engaging in the DoD Assess and Authorize (A&A) process, aligning with the guidelines of DoDI 8510.01 Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT). 
• Maintain/monitor the health of the Linux servers through both automated and manual processes. 
• Effectively documenting and communicating security policies to enterprise organizations, ensuring a clear understanding of security measures. 

 

Required Qualifications:   

• Proven experience in database administration in medium to enterprise scale environments. 
• Experience testing and implementing STIG configurations and OS and application patches.   
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.   

• 5 years of relevant experience in Federal and/or DoD IT and OT computing environments.  

 

Education:   

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or engineering discipline preferred. (8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education)  
• DoD 8140/8570 professional certification requirements for IAT Level II 

• Require a Linux+ or comparable vender certification. 
• MCSE & VMware Certified Professional Preferred
