The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute's (HHRI) Chronic Disease Research Group (CDRG - www.cdrg.org) has an opportunity for an experienced Systems Administrator who'll support our end-users who are conducting research within Hennepin Healthcare's CDRG. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Systems Administrator who's eager to use and grow their technological skills and is passionate about applying those skills to a technology-based business model that creates real-world solutions for end-users.
This is a hybrid position where time will be split between telework and onsite in downtown Minneapolis, MN.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator will protect our critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in the development of an overall IT strategy. From early on, you'll help empower our breakthrough innovations, be given challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and take ownership and responsibility. And, you'll receive training to help you become a leader in your field.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Function as a team member in a cooperative, results oriented environment providing analyses related to the design and implementation of computers, hardware equipment, and software for organization's systems infrastructure.
- Assist in installing and configuring enterprise-wide computer system solutions.
- Perform stress and performance tests on a variety of computer hardware, including CPUs, disk storage, and network connection.
- Assist in designing, implementing, and monitoring computer system security.
- Implement and maintain user access control per system configurations.
- Assist in implementing appropriate hardware and storage capabilities for meeting staff computational and analytical needs.
- Provide computer hardware and software support for all staff.
- Remain current in hardware, network, and system security technologies and contribute to the development of a secure computer systems environment.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education/Experience:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and at least three (3) years of experience in computer system, network connectivity, and storage management, and computer system security.
Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA):
Require interaction with internal staff and external vendors. Must have good oral and written skills. Must have good listening and problem solving skills. Must have up-to-date knowledge of hardware, software, network equipment, and computer system security. Familiar with concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Must be flexible and able to meet deadlines. Must have the ability to work effectively with others in developing computational and storage solutions. Must possess strong ethical principles. Displays high standards of attendance, punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- 40-hour work week with some onsite presence in downtown Minneapolis, MN required
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components.
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs, preferred
Ability to obtain and hold a Public Trust Investigation. If not a U.S. Citizen applicant must have lived in the United States 3 of the past 5 years.
