The Systems Administration / IT Specialist position functions as technical support for back-end applications, IT Infrastructure, and end user support. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, support of the server and desktop environment; triage and troubleshooting of all hardware and supporting operating systems; support in the creation and updating of process documentation, vendor interface for support and information gathering, system patching, AD support functionality, application upgrades, coordination of deliverables with Users and Business Groups, and after-hours support.
- Provide server and network support relating to software and hardware problems reported by users and in response to system alerts.
- Monitor, Evaluate, Test, and apply software updates and patches to windows and Linux servers and desktops.
- Assist in the configuration and maintenance of DHCP, DNS, Active Directory
- Assists in the configuration, management, and support of network equipment including firewalls, routers, switches, WiFi, and software applications.
- Participate in planning and implementing large scale projects
- Create and Maintain system images used to provision new systems
- Add and maintain users on the network; assigning application access, ensuring security, and maintaining their configurations are within standards.
- Analyze procedures, develop and implement software and system enhancement by utilizing project management tools in order to increase productivity and/or prevent potential issues.
- Provide end-user facing support for PC hardware and software issues.
- Perform maintenance on existing equipment (hardware and software).
- Install workstations, printers, software, etc.; Setup user workspace.
- Identify opportunities and improvements, and communicate effectively with management, peers, and customers to improve the IT infrastructure. Install new software applications or hardware on the LAN, coordinating assistance from third parties when necessary.
- Perform backup; support disaster recovery/business continuity
- Develop training material on current processes; perform user end training on proper workflow, computer software, and phone system.
- Communicate timely services status, provide quality documentation and generate any other reports requested or required by management.
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot physical and virtual server infrastructure, windows and Linux server physical environment, network-based services: File and Print services, Email, Active Directory, DHCP/DNS/WINS, messaging and meeting systems, document imaging solutions, windows software deployments and security access system.
- Provide and maintain documentation of backup processes and retention periods.
- Develop and provide training and technical documentation.
- Work with vendors in the research, development, and implementation of server technologies.
- Prepare and maintain written documentation of server and application environments.
- Work with department leaders implementing new software and hardware technologies.
- Work with vendors in the process of troubleshooting escalated incidents.
- Work with Information Technology management in implementing new sever and business technologies.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; Associate's or higher degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Microsoft Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Group Policies, and TCP/IP networking may be substituted for the degree.
- Experience in implementing HA Microsoft Windows Servers.
- Experience in integrating Apple products with Microsoft Windows Servers.
- Experience in writing system documentation, system specifications/requirements, presentations, correspondence, studies, reports, and training materials.
- Ability to demonstrate how to develop and maintain accurate documentation.
- Experience with hardware and software vendors/products, such as PCs, routers/switches, NetApp, PBX or VOIP phone systems/software, firewalls, Windows OS, Microsoft Office, Adobe, VMWare.
