Position Summary
This position is responsible and accountable for the entry of surgeon office requests for surgery to include patient demographic and medical information. The position acts as the central contact for coordination of pre-surgical information from the surgeon office and internal departments prior to day of surgery.
Responsibilities
Responsible for entry of surgical patient information into ECU Health Electronic Medical Record.
Prompt entry of information obtained via fax or electronic health record.
Entering of surgical information as needed/required.
Ensures duplicate charts are not created by various quality measures.
Liaison between VSC and surgeon offices.
Manage and coordinate all resources needed to start patients encounter with our facility.
Communicate with surgeon offices as needed to ensure correct and accurate information is obtained.
Coordinates with scheduling to ensure consistent processes.
Responsible for having good written and verbal communication skills with the physicians and their office personnel.
Records all information accurately and efficiently with minimal to no mistakes.
Coordinates with Pre-Op and other internal departments.
Verifies that all information needed for nurse review the day prior to surgery is given to Pre-Op Charge nurse as soon as possible except for any last minute changes. Notes medications and other health issues as required.
Notifies schedulers regarding certain patient medications or medical history to ensure patients arrive time is adequate.
Ensure appropriate signatures on H&P and consent form per regulatory requirements.
Responsible for making sure all cases information is obtained as cases are scheduled.
Provides critical notes and information for admissions staff regarding patient needs, payments, additional signatures etc.
Communicates schedule changes and/or information throughout the facility as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Three to four years related experience
High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher
