The Full-Time ASC Surgery Scheduler coordinates and schedules surgeries, pain appointments, and pre and post-surgical appointments, and any other requirements as requested by the physicians.
- Schedules all ambulatory Surgery Center surgeries and procedures, including pain procedures.
- Must have the ability to screen surgical packets for completeness and forward to the anesthesia department to determine if they are an appropriate candidate for Surgery in the ASC. Included in this is requesting and processing information ie: cardiac evaluations, ekgs and labs, to assist the anesthesia department evaluate patient's physical readiness for Surgery.
- Proficient use of EHR and Microsoft outlook, word, and excel.
- Primary contact for all scheduling of surgeries and/or non-clinical questions by phone, e-mail, or in-person.
- Interprets reimbursement from insurance companies for various procedures performed in the ASC and able to correlate with cost of providing the services
- Prepares billing packets for the billing department.
- Must be a Team Player and flexible.
- Be dependable and report to work in a timely manner and complete hours and/or days of work as scheduled
- Provides excellent customer service to our patients, providers and provider's staff.
- Maintains strictest patient confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA regulations and completes required staff training.
- Respect for feelings of others and is polite on the job.
- Uses personal time while on duty (meals, breaks) in accordance with personnel policy.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Keeps supervisor informed of problems or issues; all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent Customer Service, organization, and the ability to multi-task are the three key skills that must be demonstrated at all times.
- Knowledge of modern office equipment including fax machines, copiers, scanners, document management software, Electronic Medical Record, medical software, word processing software
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
- Basic knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
- Knowledge of common health insurance plans and benefits.
- Interpersonal/human relations skills; provides professional, positive customer service to all Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists patients and works well with other staff.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrates strong telephone etiquette skills
- Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to operate a personal computer
