Job description

Otak is hiring a Summer 2024 Intern to join our Water and Natural Resources team in our Redmond, WA office. Otak is a multi-disciplinary design firm that is focused on improving essential infrastructure and the natural environment. Our team works with many communities around the area on a broad range of municipal and private projects. As an Intern, you will have exposure to projects that include master planning, urban storm water retrofits, stormwater treatment, hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analyses (pipes and open channel), roadway drainage, private site drainage, flood hazard mitigation, restoration of river/stream/wetland systems.
Our team of scientists and engineers are experienced in the fields of ecology, wetland science, water quality, wildlife biology, fluvial geomorphology, botany, aquatic biology and fisheries, and have a reputation for sound knowledge, creative solutions and responsive customer service.
What you'll do:

  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Perform design services related to site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control in conformance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of construction plans using AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and the preparation of construction cost estimates.
  • Apply AutoCAD and/or GIS skills to produce supporting figures/design documents.
  • Assist with construction support services.

What you bring:
  • Current college junior, senior, or graduate level student.
  • Top tier academic performers who are obtaining a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Candidates who are cultivating interests beyond academics and active in their local communities.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations.
$20-23 per hour
