Primary Purpose
Southern California Gas Company is looking for the brightest, highly motivated, most qualified individuals for an intern position in its Customer Programs and Assistance group. This position offers exciting internship opportunities for hands-on training with skilled professionals. It also provides developmental opportunities for the right candidate to apply skills/theories into real-world problem solving and gain valuable work experience that is rewarding personally and professionally.
  • Placement is based upon applicant's academic qualifications, skills and work experience
  • Comprehensive intern program includes: facility tours, lunch learn sessions, networking events and final projects
  • Interns will give a presentation, outlining their experiences, which they will present at a luncheon attended by peers, executives, and supervisors
  • Duration of internship can be extended to a year-round internship (candidate must be able to work 16-24 hours/week during the school year and up to 40 hours/week during school breaks.)

Duties Responsibilities
  • Support for Programs and projects, analysis, project documentation and tracking.
  • Support for on-going process improvement and cross-functional projects.
  • The position may also involve with coordinating and interacting with other internal department staff to perform various job functions.

$19.05 - $40.50 / hour
Qualifications
Education
  • Enrolled in a four-year university in a Bachelor's or Master's program, must be a student the duration of the internship
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior undergraduate standing is preferred.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 or higher required
  • Desirable course work or equivalent experience: Business Information System, Business Management, Economics, Communications, Marketing, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Engineering, and Environmental/Energy Efficiency. Other disciplines will be considered

Knowledge, Skills Abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience in data analytics is preferred
  • Knowledge in Sharepoint and Dashboard are preferred
  • Experience with SAP is highly desirable
  • Work experience is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret accounting, financial data and concepts
  • Results oriented and attention to details
  • Have the ability to identify issues, analyze data, develop, recommend, and implement solutions
  • Have good knowledge of finance and general accounting principles.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills to persuade and influence those with divergent opinions toward consensus
  • Have program/project management skills or similar experience
  • Creative and strategic in problem solving

Other Qualifications
  • Be able to work 30-40 hours per week during the Summer with a flexible work schedule.
  • Will need a reliable form of transportation.
  • This position is 12-weeks during the summer and will require a presentation at the end of summer.
