VRL Students | Summer Intern Role Description
Duration:
This position will average approximately 40 hours per week (Weekend
Services, Wednesdays, office days, plus special events). The starting date
is May 28, 2024 and will end August 6, 2024.
Principal Functions
Interns are expected to support the ongoing ministry to students at Valley
Real Life by building relationships with students, modeling a Christ-like
lifestyle, assisting and leading ministry events that reinforce VRL Students'
objectives, and becoming actively involved at Valley Real Life.
Job Summary
VRL Students exists to help 6th-12th grade students be and make
disciples of Jesus. This internship position exists for the mutual benefit of
VRL Students and the intern. On one hand, VRL students can enlist an
individual who can offer their own set of skills, knowledge, interests, and
passions to support and enhance our student ministry. On the other hand,
the intern receives the opportunity to learn and develop ministry skills in a
safe and nurturing environment. Ideally, the intern will be discipled by the
Student Ministry Staff and develop their gifts and potential in ministry.
Payment & Housing
The intern will receive a stipend of up to $2000 ($200 per week) to cover
basic living expenses. The stipend will be paid once per month during the
program. The intern will receive a 1099-MISC at the end of the year for tax purposes and are not
considered employees of Valley Real Life. The intern will stay at houses
within the VRL family for 2 weeks at a time, arranged by the High School
Pastor.
Responsibilities
Major Ministry Event Responsibilities
1. Be present at the majority of scheduled youth events, including Midweek,
Thursday/Sunday programs, monthly events, and major trips (MOVE & MIX).
2. Assist with the logistical responsibilities needed to run each program.
3. Plan and execute at least 1 event during internship.
Personal Development Responsibilities
1. Set and work toward personal & spiritual goals with Student Pastor.
2. Read at least 1-2 books relating to internship/ministry experience and
discuss with the Student Pastor.
Focused Area Responsibilities
1. An intern may have a focused area for the internship (ex: worship,
teaching, etc.)
a. The focused area will be determined by the Student Pastor and the
Intern, based on the needs of the ministry and skills/passions of the
intern.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Actively participate in the family of Valley Real Life.
2. Develop and nurture relationships within Student Ministry.
3. Work effectively with VRL ministerial and support staff.
4. Other duties and ministry participation as assigned or desired. Other

follow and process that calling.

Ministry Pastor(s)].
