Hourly: $16.28 to $29.70

Typically, selected candidates are hired at an hourly rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Grant County PUD will administer a background check as part of the hiring process.

Position Summary

Under general supervision of Engineering manager(s), this position is responsible for providing cost effective support and assistance to supervision and staff engineers for construction, maintenance and contract management of the District’s facilities and assets. Strong aptitude for research, analytics, and record keeping will be a necessary component.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Performs high quality and professional day to day support for the following engineering activities in multiple departments; including understanding of the policies and procedures of the District and acts in a manner that coincides with the District’s strategic vision and standards:

  1. Assists with/or under direct supervision making cost effective recommendations for operation and maintenance of existing equipment and replacement of obsolete equipment.
  2. Assists with/or under direct supervision providing long-range planning to develop manpower and budgeting for orderly change out of obsolete equipment.
  3. Assists with/or under direct supervision preparation of technical specification for contract documents to be used for bidding purposes.
  4. Assists with/or under direct supervision administer contracts for work performed on District facilities by contractors, including inspection of contractors work.
  5. Assist other department in the resolution of problems arising from daily activities.
  6. Work with consultants, contractors and other contract personnel.
  7. Assist with/or under direct supervision prepare detailed instruction, mark and generate new drawings and manuals.
  8. Provide necessary support to craftsman to implement engineering changes in the field.
  9. Maintain good relations with company representatives, craftsman, suppliers and other engineers while keeping informed of the latest, equipment, practices and procedures in the utility industry.
  10. Provide feedback on budget requirements, scheduling and management of projects.
  11. Assist other engineers with work orders, budgeting, contracts, purchasing, accounting, and technical information.
  12. Perform field inspection of work and provide reports.
  13. Assist with/or under direct supervision conduct failure analysis and prepare equipment reliability statistics.
  14. Promote teamwork between departments and divisions.

Educational Requirements

Current Student with a sophomore standing or higher and accepted into a program to obtain a B.S. in Engineering or B.S. in Engineering Technology.

Experience

Entry Level Engineer Internship: Engineering experience would include successful acceptance into a college of engineering program, and continue to maintain enrollment in the program with good standing.

Knowledge and Skill

 Knowledgeof – organizational policies and procedures; department policies and procedures; computer programs; file management; office environment; administrative, scheduling, estimating, manpower and tracking project tasks.

 Skill in – operating a personal computer and general office equipment; typing and entering data with speed and accuracy; utilizing MS office products; organization and prioritization; interpersonal skills including clear and concise communication both in writing and verbally.

Special Requirements

A valid State driver’s license with no restrictions.

Physical Requirements

Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting.
