Position Summary Information
General Summary TheWater/Wastewater Planning Intern will support daily general and operational functions within the Water/Wastewater Planning section.
Essential Functions - Assists the planning section in identifying and revising customer account data in the consolidated engineering system with outstanding flow commitments that have connected to the WSSC Water sewer system
- Assists in the redevelopment of the sewer flow tracking database from excel into access
- Assists in the documentation of new developments in each of the drainage basins in order to update the sewer model, as well as the GIS data
- Assists the Planning Section with flow tracking of wastewater flows Assists in the development of a new project to develop a database for expired development
- Assists with the new GIS database to document average water consumption
- Assists in the review of water and sewer hydraulic models
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment And Physical Demands Business casual office environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities - Experience with MS Office Suite
- Some introductory exposure to hydraulics, civil engineering, and/or environmental engineering concepts
Completion of 2+ years education in a science, engineering, or engineering technology undergraduate program
Additional Requirements Proficient use of MS Office applications
Preferences - Some experience or introduction in the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), such as ESRI's ArcInfo, ArcMap, or ArcView
- Some experience with databases and/or Microsoft Access
