Position Location Laurel Position Summary Information
General Summary The Student Intern - Quality Assurance (Q/A) will learn the system development life cycle (SDLC) from requirements to implementation. The intern will perform hands-on testing of in-house development products, COTS products and mobile applications. The Student Intern will also create test plans, test scripts and test reports using the latest QA testing tools. The intern will record and track issues/defects; follow-through with a fix resolution and validation.
Essential Functions - Test web/mobile/COTS applications
- Review business requirements and specifications for consistency in quality standards and preparation for testing
- Execute manual/automation test cases both functional and regression tests
- Record and track issues/defects; follow-through with fix resolution and validation
- Work closely with the business and development groups from conception to completion of multiple simultaneous projects
- Learn the SDLC process
- Get hands on experience testing web/mobile/COTS applications
- Interact with Business users and gain the knowledge of requirements process
- Gain utility industry experience
Performs other related duties as required.
Work Environment And Physical Demands Business casual office setting
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Basic understanding and interest in Quality Assurance testing.
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements Completion of 2+ years of college coursework towards a degree in a technical discipline
Additional Requirements Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite applications
Preferences - Previous software Quality Assurance experience helpful
- Manual/functional testing
- Experience in creation of test plans and test cases
- Excellent documentation skills communicating with technical and non-technical internal staff
- Knowledge of web and internet technologies
- Knowledge with software development life cycle
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Previous experience with a programming language a plus
