Job Description:

The SUNY GROW Support Unit's Strategic Partnerships and Grants Coordinator plays a critical role in identifying, pursuing, and securing grant funding to support the organization's mission and initiatives. This position involves researching potential funding sources, developing grant proposals, and maintaining relationships with donors and funding organizations.

Responsibilities:

1. Grant Research:

  • Identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
  • Stay informed about grant application guidelines, eligibility criteria, and deadlines.

2. Grant Proposal Development:

  • Write compelling grant proposals and applications that effectively communicate the organization's goals and funding needs.
  • Ensure that grant proposals are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and data for proposals.

3. Relationship Building:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing grantors and funding organizations.
  • Motivate and inspire campus leaders to achieve objectives by facilitating discussions and developing relationships.
  • Seek new funding opportunities by networking and attending relevant events, conferences, and meetings.

4. Grant Compliance:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with grant requirements, reporting deadlines, and budgetary restrictions.
  • Prepare and submit grant reports as required by funding organizations.

5. Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop budgets for grant proposals and track grant-related expenses.

6. Grant Database Management:

  • Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
  • Track the progress of grant applications and report on their status.

7. Grant Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop a long-term grant acquisition strategy aligned with SUNY's goals and needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of grant activities and make recommendations for improvements.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, public administration, communications).
  • Personal and professional integrity that communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start.
  • Proven experience in grant writing and development, preferably in a nonprofit or similar setting.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in grant management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certification in grant writing or nonprofit management.
  • Experience with online grant application portals and databases.
