We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Staff Accountant to join our banking team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping the Bank make informed financial decisions, manage risk, and achieve its strategic goals. In this role, you will work closely with various departments to analyze financial data, assess market trends, and provide actionable insights. This is an in-office position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis of the Bank's operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.
- General Ledger: Maintain the General Ledger. Initiate and record GL entries, perform account reconciliations, and research discrepancies as needed.
- Sales and Use Tax: Identify and file returns as required.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets, to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the Bank's budgets, identifying areas for cost optimization and revenue growth.
- Administrative: Perform administrative functions for the CEO and CFO as needed.
- Compliance: Ensure that all financial activities adhere to relevant banking regulations and compliance standards.
- Accounts Payable: Act as advisor to the accounts payable processor(s). Provide administrative support to assure all invoices have been authorized, paid on time, and expensed to the proper general ledger account.
- This includes a special project/goal to migrate to a cloud-based accounts payable provider.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in financial analysis or banking (2-5 years preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel (Pivot tables and Power Query), MS Teams, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently, in a team, and collaborate across departments.
Working Conditions:
- Well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor office setting with adequate ventilation and moderate noise level, only occasionally requiring exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Primarily sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature often requiring sitting, talking, and listening.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to work with the fingers.
- May occasionally be required to lift and/or carry over 10 pounds.
