POSITION:Sr. Property Accountant - Transitions (Full Time, Exempt)
COMPENSATION: Pursuant to Colorado regulations, if this job is performed in Colorado, the salary range is $85,000 - $90,000 plus bonus potential. Eligible to participate in the company benefits plan. SUMMARY
As a Senior Property Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the financial operations of our property management portfolio. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure accurate and timely recording of property-related transactions, perform detailed analysis of financial data, and support the overall property accounting function. Working closely with the accounting team, you will contribute to the financial success of the organization by providing valuable insights, conducting financial audits, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES_ (Including but not limited to)_
- Assist with the onboarding of new acquisitions, set-up of operational systems and banking platforms.
- Assist with and record prorations for sale and final settlement of dispositions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accurate transition of historical ledger data, reconcile cash balances, and final financial statements from prior management.
- Map General Ledger Accounts for clients, including mapping for custom charts of accounts as requested.
- Prepare the first full month’s financial statement package to meet the requirements of the client and management agreement.
- Communicate and interact frequently with all stakeholders in Property Management, Property Accounting, IT, Treasury, and assigned client contacts.
- Manage initial cash funding requirements to facilitate immediate client needs following transition related to loan payments, property taxes, insurance, and outstanding accounts payable.
- Provide guidance and feedback to Property Accountants on reporting requirements and responsibilities for client deliverables.
- Documentation of key client needs and decisions made during transitions process.
- Work with Property Accounting managers to seamlessly transition property financials.
- Other projects as assigned.
- Participates in Cardinal U training as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience, 3-5 years in property accounting, real estate accounting, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and property accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with property management systems is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
