The Corporate Director of Finance/Accounting - Property Focus position will support the Vice President of Finance to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting for Herschend Enterprises its subsidiaries. In this position, the individual will be exposed to a wide variety of corporate functions and operational leaders. This individual must learn quickly, be flexible and demonstrate a high degree of initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- As a member of the finance and accounting team, this position will work to help create an environment where people work as a team, and empower each other by being patient, kind, humble, respectful, selfless, forgiving, and honest and committed when interacting with one another and the guests.
- Ensure financial reporting for Herschend is in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), applicable laws and regulations, and Corporate Accounting Standards.
- Ensure Company Financial Policies and Procedures are followed and consistent across Herschend subsidiaries. Any exceptions communicated to VP of Finance or CFO.
- Serve as technical accounting expert and resource to Herschend properties, as assigned.
- Assist in the preparation of Board of Director meeting material including but not limited to budgeting and forecasting, capital management, and financial analysis.
- Conduct financial statement and account reconciliation reviews each period end.
- Ensure reporting standardization for assigned entities and consistent data flow for financial information.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in financial and operational systems and processes. Be a resource to property and corporate accounting to ensure internal controls and problem solve and troubleshoot errors and issues.
- Improve business processes and supports critical business strategies.
- Supports due diligence activities as assigned.
- Assist with purchase price accounting and acquisition on-boarding specifically Finance/Accounting activities.
- Actively tracks industry trends and best practices.
- Practice flexible leadership, professional management skills, and consultative and participative decision-making skills.
- Work with ownership and senior management on special projects as necessary.
- Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties.
EXPERIENCE
- BS in Accounting or related field with minimum 7 years' experience; CPA preferred.
- Experience in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating 3 or more direct reports required.
- Experience in overall management of all aspects of accounting.
- Experience leading implementation of new software applications preferred.
