The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Sr. Enterprise Architect – USRM Technology


US Architecture Solutions, a function within US Retail Markets (USRM) is activity searching for a Sr. Enterprise Architect to align our technology architecture and strategy across our US Market and our Asia Retail Market (ARM). Liberty Mutual is constantly innovating and creating industry-leading solutions that provide peace of mind for our customers, agents, and partners. As an experienced sr. architect, you’ll play a critical role in helping us reshape our core technology platforms to a modern cloud-based architecture, all while working in a highly collaborative agile engineering environment. You will be part of the team that establishes and assists with the execution of our enterprise technology strategy using the latest cloud technologies and approaches.


You will be responsible for the architecture of large-scale enterprise grade solutions with an initial focus on our technology NorthStar, software selection and rationalization, business and technology debt manage across USRM to enable simply, scalable, secure and extensible solutions that drive business outcomes.


You will establish technology standards, define and evolve our technology taxonomy and radar, transitional architectures and roadmaps and enable/empower USRM teams as they transition to our NorthStar. You will also play a key role within our Federated Enterprise Architecture (FEA) group – a team made up of senior architects from other business units that partner with USRM to align on a common Liberty Mutual technology strategy.


You will also have the opportunity to get into code via the development of patterns, conducting technology assessments and backoffs, proof of concepts and other efforts in support of multiple USRM teams while partnering with other Liberty Mutual groups.


We are looking for a change agent that will play a critical role moving our technology and business forward, solving the most complex problems with simply solutions, and providing leadership of cross functional teams that will unlock positive business outcomes. Technical acumen along with strong collaboration and partnership is critical to success in this role.


About the role:

  • Proven track record to build large scale, customer facing and high performing applications
  • Ability to quantify architectural initiatives into real value in terms of dollars
  • Partner with business, other architects, and IT teams to establish and execute on our technology strategy helping establish our NorthStar with a clear & consistent technology vision and a roadmap to achieving that NorthStar
  • Align disparate practices and standards within USRM into enterprise-wide standards
  • Lead technology proof of concepts, backoffs and benchmarks to ensure feasibility of architecture solutions
  • Identify and assess the organizational impact of Enterprise Architecture, governance and standards, including change in skills, processes and structures.
  • Mentor architects, engineers and senior leadership alike. Inspire and lead senior technical individual contributors
  • Expert knowledge of agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Master`s degree in a relevant field with 15+ years of technology experience
  • Demonstrated senior executive level leadership and critical thinking skills with excellent depth/breadth
  • Strong consulting skills on technical items with the ability to balance the long-term “big picture” and short-term implications of decisions
  • Strong influencing and consensus building skills, and the adaptability to respond to change quickly
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly

Qualifications
  • 15+ years of technology architecture experience in a complex, multi-platform distributed environment.
  • Practical experience with cloud migrations (including mainframe migrations to cloud)
  • Practical experience establishing a technology NorthStar and implementing a technology radar.
  • Practical experience with cloud providers & services (AWS - preferred, Azure, Google)
  • Relevant certifications preferred.
  • Adept at the tradeoff between *aaS and portability
  • Practical experience conducting technology risk assessments.
  • Experience in messaging platforms, protocols, and technologies like Kafka to support even based architecture.
  • Experience with common EA frameworks (i.e. TOGAF) and specifically Technical Reference Model (TRM) development and management.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies & avid team player.
  • Excellent time management, multitasking & communication skills to effectively meet challenging deadlines.
  • Bachelor`s or Master’s degree in technical discipline
