We are seeking a skilled and experienced Enterprise Architect to help us in our Supply Chain space. As an Enterprise Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing and optimizing systems and processes that directly contribute to business value.

The primary responsibility of the architect is to work within the A&F (Abercrombie & Fitch) Digital and Technology organization and business community to ensure systems are architected utilizing industry best practices and within the guidelines set forth by A&F.

Drive designs and patterns on multiple projects including Supply Chain and other projects that will meet enterprise requirements for scale and reliability while transforming the architecture to a modern footprint. Facilitate design sessions with solution architects and tech leaders to design solutions which meet enterprise standards.

Additionally, the architect will be responsible for understanding emerging technology architectures for microservices, integration patterns, and DevOps pipelines to making recommendations for incorporating appropriate emerging architectures into future A&F roadmaps.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Strategic Planning:Collaborate with senior executives, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand business objectives, goals, and requirements. Translate business strategies into technology solutions and create roadmaps for implementing architectural changes and improvements.
  • System Architecture Design: Develop and maintain the enterprise-wide architecture blueprints, aligning with the overall business and technology strategies. Define standards, guidelines, and best practices for system design, integration, and data flow.
  • Integration and Interoperability: Collaborate with technology teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration Supply Chain Systems/processes. Identify opportunities for data sharing, interoperability, and real-time visibility, including suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, and retail stores.
  • Governance and Compliance:Develop and enforce architectural standards, policies, and procedures for Supply Chain Systems and associated technologies. Ensure compliance with A&F architectural standards, industry regulations, data privacy, and security requirements.
  • Optimization:Analyze and evaluate Supply Chain processes and contact center tooling identifying areas for optimization, automation, and efficiency improvement. Design and implement innovative solutions that streamline operations, reduce costs, improve order accuracy, reduce maintenance, and enhance customer experience.
  • Technology Evaluation and Selection: Research and assess emerging technologies, solutions, and tools that can enhance business goals. Evaluate vendor offerings and make recommendations for technology adoption, considering factors such as scalability, interoperability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Data Analytics and Insights:Define data architecture and analytics capabilities to enable real-time visibility, predictive modeling, and data-driven decision-making. Leverage data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business leaders, operations managers, technology teams, and external partners, to gain alignment on priorities and initiatives. Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Oversee Solution design:Advise on steps to achieve modernization goals and ensure adherence to A&F architectural standards. Which include but are not limited to defining impacted systems, defining strategy for upgrade/technical work, deployment strategy, environment strategy, monitoring, logging, cost, containerization strategies, DR (Disaster Recovery) impacts, migration path, and future upgrades. Provide architectural guidance and oversight throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation and post-deployment support.
  • Roadmap: Provide a long-term Supply Chain regionalization strategy to separate data by geographical regions and provide a solution to address the long-term goals.
  • Documentarchitectural standards and design patterns for reference in decision-making, development and build practices. Ensure leverage and use of the architectural practices, devOps and other standards are built into future and existing projects
  • Team up with engineering teams to align on future state of Supply Chain. Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and successful delivery of initiatives.
  • Ability to escalate vendor issues to 3rd party vendor service providers, and work through technical spikes/support tickets to drive a path forward
  • Develop, train, and mentor other architects both through project work and/or POC (Proof of Concept) work. This includes regular technical updates to the team, informal and formal training sessions, and 1-1 coaching
  • Serve as an advanced technical leader and as such, a role model both technically and behaviorally

What Do You Need To Bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 15+ years of experience in various roles of technical leadership within a large-scale organization
  • Must have: Supply Chain systems (Manhattan Active preferred), BluJay, Dematic
  • Nice to have: Sterling Order Management experience v9.x or later, Oracle RMS/MFCS experience, PLM solution experience, RFID solutions
  • Proven experience as a Supply Chain architect or in a similar role with a retail organization
  • In-depth knowledge of Supply Chain principles, logistics, distribution, and systems
  • Experience with Supply Chain control tower implementations (preferably levels 3 and/or 4)
  • Proficiency in Supply Chain management software packages and how they integration with each other and the broader application landscape
  • Demonstrable experience architecting Supply Chain solutions in cloud
  • Experience designing efficient, agile, and cost-effective Supply Chain solutions that support retail operations.
  • Proven experience in optimizing Supply Chain by aligning with Enterprise Architecture standard.
  • Strong and demonstrable proficiency in implementing common integrations with boundary systems to Supply Chain
  • Proficiency with emerging technology in the areas of robotics and automation within the four walls of distribution centers and Supply Chain.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining service levels, quality, and sustainability using your expertise in system optimization
  • Experience with event-driven integration patterns (ie. Apache Kafka)
  • Expertise in Supply Chain technologies and solutions, such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Order Management Systems (OMS), and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), integration with Contact Center / Customer Service tooling.
  • Understanding of order management processes, including order placement, fulfillment, inventory allocation, and returns management.
  • Experience implementing significant application upgrades and implementation of new solutions is required.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (AKS, EKS, RedHat OpenShift helpful)
  • Experience with major cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, and Google GCP
  • Experience building microservices, and SwaggerHub helpful
  • Experience creating blueprints, and solutions design documents for enterprise level projects.
  • Experience with integration technologies and standards, such as API and EDI to enable seamless data exchange between systems and partners.
  • Familiar with integrating CI/CD practices into teams
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF helpful
  • Strong knowledge of retail industry trends, challenges, and best practices
