The Sr. Director, Supply Relationship Management is a critical role in the comprehensive lifecycle of Cytokinetics relations with partners and suppliers supporting Global Supply Chain & Technical Operations. This role will lead marketplace assessments, supplier due diligence through Request for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposals (RPF). These due diligence activities will lead to collaborative supplier selection, contract negotiations, operationalization of the relationship and ultimately management of supplier performance against the contract. This role requires demonstrated business acumen, influencing skills, strategic thinking, relationship building and collaboration behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain professional business relationships with suppliers in assigned industries/segments.
- Be the primary point of contact and relationship manager to assigned CMOs and critical suppliers (domestic and international)
- Accountable for supplier due diligence, selection and overall development to meet defined requirements.
- Responsible for developing manufacturing service and supply agreements in close collaboration with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Quality
- Lead and manage contract setup and negotiation, budget planning, tracking, contracts, and manufacturing tactical execution
- Perform supplier audits, as required to ensure compliance.
- Support supplier segmentation analysis based on risk, value and opportunity, in collaboration with Category Manager.
- Monitor and manage supplier contractual performance
- Identify opportunities to optimize and improve supplier performance and create additional value
- Assist internal teams with material and process selection for purchases, selecting suppliers per category strategies, negotiating prices, developing and administrating contracts.
- Develop and improve business processes (Risk Management, Business Continuity and Strategic Partnerships) to deliver annual improvements in total cost, quality and service.
- Develop expertise in the business requirements and capabilities for major categories and key business processes.
- Serve as the Supply Chain representative on matrix teams for complex projects, as assigned
- Monitor CMO performance using a set of standard KPIs and report progress to
- management

Qualifications
- Ideal candidates will bring 10+ years experience in the Life Sciences, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related areas within Biotech/Pharma
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field preferred
- A strong understanding of product development and GMP Manufacturing is required
- Working knowledge of regulations relating to pharmaceutical supply chain activities (cGMP, GCP, import/export, computer systems/Part 11)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Manufacturing cost benchmarks and Pricing Strategies for small molecule manufacturing in Life Sciences
- Displays expertise in a supply chain discipline (e.g., production planning, clinical supplies, logistics, ERP/MPR systems administration
- A strategic thinker with strong result-orientation and a sense of urgency to deliver quality results on time and in a highly ethical and professional manner
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong cross functional relationships and communicate complex issues and concepts
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally ~15%
- Position requires a strong working knowledge and understanding of regulations by government agencies affecting the pharmaceutical industry (CFR's)
- Problem solver with a hands-on approach and ability to anticipate adverse scenarios and provide contingency plans to address
Salary pay range: $234,000 - $286,000 for California based candidates. Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.
