Major Duties:
- Carries out relatively complex, extensive, high-profile activities e.g. direct interaction with committees and more senior management.
Primary Duties:
- Calculate and deliver timely and accurate net asset values on complex fund structures. Maintain the books and records for Funds’ assets in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Ensure all fund transactions are properly recorded to accounting system
- Run daily valuation audits
- Investigate and resolve cash/position exceptions and tolerance breaches
- Apply accounting and finance principals to numerous investment instruments
- Evaluate income and expense accruals
- Deliver valuation reports to client
- Possess solid knowledge base on how corporate actions affect the Fund’s balance sheet.
- Multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Prepares monthly reconciliation reports and semi-annual SEC filings, where applicable
- Assists in the creation and implementation of new procedures/controls to improve performance and increase departmental efficiency.
- Mentors and trains fund accountants new to the practice.
- Technically competent to act as first point of reference for day-to-day queries and serves as a liaison to related areas.
Knowledge & Skills Require:
- Demonstrates excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skills
- Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle day-to-day work challenges confidently, as well as adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change.
- In depth knowledge of an accounting platform utilized to calculate the NAV of various investment strategies. Preferred knowledge of the SunGard Invest One system.
- Displays conceptual understanding of investment instruments including, equites, fixed income, options, futures, OTC Swaps
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Solid written and verbal communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with peers and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Word and other relevant department software.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (or related field)
- 1-3 years of previous Fund Administration experience preferred
