BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The Sr. Cloud Engineer will be responsible for supporting cloud-based infrastructure within our Azure environment within our Information Communications Technology department (ICT).
This role will be responsible for ensuring the cloud infrastructure stays updated as the Azure services are updated. They will be responsible for coordinating with business users to schedule any required maintenance activities. This includes patching of virtualized servers within the Azure environment. This role will also perform regular reporting within the environment to right-size the environment on a regular basis.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines:
- Creating and presenting architecture vision to internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in creating target “To Be” architecture and transition states based on desired business outcomes around stability, scalability and security, delivering solutions from inception to the implementation
- Define and execute the cloud technology migration strategy, collaborating with cross functional teams
- Collaborating in Designing and architecting large data solutions
- Understand and collaborate on Designing cloud solutions for IoT devices
- Support and Maintain cloud infrastructure with a deep knowledge of Azure CIDR, Subnets, LAN, WAN VNet
- Monitor the environment’s performance, availability, and security posture in accordance with defined policies and procedures.
- Provide feedback on issues and concerns with the environment.
- Follow incident, problem, and change management processes to maintain the environment.
- Actively participate in projects involving the deploying of cloud infrastructure meeting business needs
- Participate in AGILE methodology with familiarity in ticketing tools
- Evaluate business resiliency technology and processes on an ongoing basis to meet changing industry standards
- Responsible for the hands-on management of the IT Disaster Recovery Program components of the IT Business Continuity strategy including retention/backup policy
- Collaborate with IoT architects to design infrastructure strategies to support scalable deployments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline required.
- In lieu of a degree at least 5 years related experience required.
- 6 to 7 years’ experience support cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure)
- Experience with Windows or Linux Operating System administration (prefer both)
- Experience with scripting languages (such as bash, Ansible, or terraform)
- Familiar with container technology
- Experience using monitoring tools to monitor performance and availability of infrastructure components preferred:
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
- Containerization and Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
- Cloud Technologies: Azure
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)/Configuration management: Ansible, Chef, Terraform, Cloud Formation
- Collaboration Tools: Jira, Confluence
- Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS), Windows Server
- Version Control: Git, GitHub, Bitbucket
- Monitoring and Logging: New Relic, Grafana
- Advanced knowledge of process and software modeling and experience translating business needs into requirements.
- Demonstrates the required proficiency levels for technical skills. Technical skills and IT knowledge related to the assigned department to provide services in an information technology environment.
Computer systems (hardware, software and networking) operations.
