Cloud Engineer Senior
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.
The Cloud Engineer Senior will be responsible for delivery of end-to-end application, system development and maintenance on complex multi technology platforms within assigned client group, business unit or corporate department and utilizing various customer technology platforms.
This position will be instrumental in building and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Cloud Engineer Senior will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts, and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
How you will make an impact:
Maintains active relationships with customers to determine business requirements and leads requirements gathering meetings.
Owns the change request process and may coordinate with other teams as necessary.
Provides technical advice and weighs in on technical decisions that impact cross functional teams.
Research and may propose new technologies.
Develops and owns list of final enhancements.
Develops and defines application scope and objectives and prepares technical and/or functional specifications from with programs will be written.
Performs technical design reviews and code reviews.
May own technical testing to ensures unit test is completed and meets the test plan requirements, system testing is completed and system is implemented according to plan.
Assesses current status and supports data information planning.
Coordinates on-call support and ensures effective monitoring of system.
Maintains technical development environment.
Mentors others and may lead multiple or small to medium sized projects.
Will begin to set direction at the project/service level and influences decision-making.
Provides technical guidance, and mentoring.
Understands the tradeoffs between technical, analytical and product needs of the technical solutions.
Identifies and propose strategies around technical problems affecting team, communicates standards and gets buy-in on solutions.
Facilitates group sessions to elicit complex information on requirements clarification, design sessions, code reviews and troubleshooting issues.
Supports vendor evaluation.
In this role the Cloud Engineer Senior will have the opportunity to:
Data Pipeline Architecture : Design and implement scalable and reliable data pipelines within AWS cloud environments, leveraging technologies such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, Python, Apache Airflow, SSIS, DataStage, or Informatica.
Database Management : Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server or Oracle databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
ETL Development : Develop and maintain ETL processes using Python, SSIS, DataStage or Informatica to extract data from various sources, transform it according to business rules, and load it into data warehouses or data lakes.
Cloud Services Management : Leverage AWS services (e.g., Amazon S3, RDS, Redshift, Lambda, Glue), and GCP to build and maintain a highly efficient data infrastructure.
Performance Tuning : Monitor, identify, and rectify database performance issues. Optimize data processing and ETL jobs for maximum efficiency.
Data Security and Compliance : Implement and maintain data security measures, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and best practices in the cloud.
Collaboration : Work with team members across departments to identify and implement data improvements, integrations, and new technologies to enhance the business’s data ecosystem.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years related experience; multi-dimensional platform experience; expert level experience with business and technical applications, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
Strong experience with AWS cloud services related to data storage, processing, and analytics.
Proficient in managing and optimizing Snowflake, SQL Server, and Oracle databases.
Extensive experience with ETL tools, specifically Airflow, SSIS, DataStage, or Informatica.
Solid understanding of SQL, Python, and other programming languages.
Knowledge of data modeling, data governance, data security practices, and compliance frameworks.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work and collaborate with teams in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Healthcare experience is preferred.
