Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer

Summary/Objective

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Senior Azure Cloud Engineer. This elite role is central to our strategic initiatives in harnessing the Azure Cloud ecosystem, focusing on pioneering Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to revolutionize our application development and deployment landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead the development of cutting-edge cloud solutions leveraging IaC methodologies, employing tools such as Terraform and ARM templates to ensure our infrastructure is efficient, scalable, and impregnable.
• Champion the optimization of our Azure cloud environments, driving enhancements in performance, security, and scalability, while meticulously managing cost-effectiveness.
• Guide the transition of legacy systems to Azure, orchestrating seamless migrations that adhere to the zenith of cloud architecture best practices.
• Oversee the deployment and management of Windows Virtual Desktop environments for remote workers, ensuring peak performance and optimal user experiences.
• Architect federated access solutions integrating Active Directory and Azure AD, fortifying our infrastructure against evolving security threats.
• Seamlessly merge Azure infrastructure capabilities with Shaw’s CI/CD pipelines, fostering a culture of DevOps excellence and streamlining deployment processes.
• Forge strong alliances with development teams, ensuring cloud infrastructure designs are in perfect harmony with application needs and overarching business objectives.
• Lead rigorous post-implementation evaluations, establishing the efficacy and impact of infrastructure modifications.

Requirements

• Mastery in IaC tools like Terraform for the automation of cloud infrastructures, backed by at least 5 years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure automation and a proven track record in implementing scalable, secure, and efficient solutions.
• Comprehensive expertise in Microsoft Azure’s suite of services across Compute, Storage, Network, and Security domains, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing, deploying, and managing sophisticated Azure ecosystems.
• Adept in the nuances of Azure Active Directory and traditional Active Directory environments, including complex federated access frameworks and multi-domain architectures, demonstrated with at least 4 years of specific experience in identity and access management solutions.
• Proficient in network security protocols, with a keen ability to architect secure, scalable cloud networks, evidenced by at least 5 years of experience in cloud network architecture and security.
• Skilled in Windows Server administration, SQL database oversight, and advanced PowerShell scripting, showcasing at least 5 years of experience in system administration, database management, and scripting for automation and configuration.
• A connoisseur of modern DevOps methodologies, with proficiency in tools like Azure DevOps for CI/CD, possessing at least 4 years of experience in implementing DevOps practices and tools in a cloud environment.
• Exceptional analytical prowess and troubleshooting acumen for resolving intricate cloud environment issues, with a requirement of at least 5 years in a role heavily focused on cloud troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Stellar communication faculties, capable of demystifying complex technical paradigms to a varied audience, developed over at least 5 years of working in cross-functional environments, requiring effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Education/Certifications

• Four-Year College Degree (BA or BS) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Azure Cloud Certifications strongly preferred (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, Terraform Associate).
• Relevant experience in Cloud Engineering, particularly with Microsoft Azure and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.

Location

This position may work from any of the following locations:  Hybrid office schedule if within 75 miles of the Houston, TX or Richmond, VA office.  Remote with the ability to travel at least 5% from the following states:  Texas if more than 75 miles from the office location, Virginia if more than 75 miles from the office location, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position includes technical leadership and mentorship roles within the Cloud Engineering and ServiceOps teams.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday.  The daily schedule may vary from 7 am – 4 pm, 8 am – 5 pm or 9 am – 6 pm, and occasional afterhours or weekend work may be required.  Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.

Travel

Limited travel (up to 10%) may be required.
