Specialist - Engine Quality Control (Test Engineer)

Position Summary:
Responsible for test data analysis, developing countermeasures, maintaining test data, and developing improvement plans for the in-process test stations on the
Engine Production Assembly Line in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain proper equipment calibration through coordination with the calibration group.
- Conduct research that tests or analyze the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to the maintenance department.
- Develop test equipment improvements in collaboration with Engine Assembly Production, QC Line Inspection, Engine Maintenance and the equipment
manufacturers.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for in-line testing equipment.
- Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems or needs. Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Provide root cause analysis of test rejects, working with Engine Assembly Production, QC Line Inspection, Engine Maintenance, Purchasing, Supplier Quality,
and the equipment manufacturers to provide permanent and effective countermeasures.
- Maintain test performance data, track defects, data trends, and countermeasures.
- Provide quality, productivity, and cost savings improvements.
- Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and
necessity of modification.
- Develop standardized work instructions for equipment operation and test flow (i.e., engine retesting, mastering cycle, etc.)
- Improve end item quality by maintaining history logs and fault database.
- Teach and / or mentor line inspectors and production Team Members to perform tests, know the expected output, understand output information, and deal
with non-confirming results.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management
System (SMS) requirements.
- Meet all other requirements as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent preferred.
Related Experience:
- 0 – 10 years job related experience preferred.
- Automotive quality experience desired.
Skills / Knowledge:
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Access.
- Fundamental understanding of gasoline engine theory and function.
- Fundamental understanding of electrical circuits and programmable electronics.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
