JFS Special Needs Life Skills Program Supervisor oversees the planning and implementation of JFS life skill program activities including parent support groups/workshops, targeted case management and recreational/Life Skills activities. Some evenings and Sunday hours required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree Preferred in Social Work, Special Education, or related field
- Ability to exhibit strong leadership skills; two years of supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Specific knowledge and experience working with the Special Needs population and strong knowledge of community resources
- Ability to be creative, enthusiastic, and positively engage with members of the community
- Strong skillset with developing and planning programs and activities
- Strong skillset with developing and sustaining networks and relationships with community providers and stakeholders
- Strong skillset in community outreach and the ability to develop and give community presentations[JG1] [ND2]
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint etc.) to create systems to track program activities and outcomes, write reports, and regularly share data with internal/external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities and complete projects within specified timeframes
- Be culturally sensitive and able to work with multi-cultural client/customer populations
- Work in a nonjudgmental manner
- Maintain professional boundaries
- Foster positive growth/outcomes and work as part of a team
- Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and support JFS Special Needs Life Skills strategic plan, program goals and objectives.
- Provide direct weekly supervision to program staff focused on targeted case management and Life Skills Programming.
- Hiring, coaching and monitoring performance of staff and provide ongoing training and corrective feedback.
- Supervision and training of paraprofessional volunteers as needed
- Through virtual, site-based and community-based locations, support and develop programming designed to foster Life Skills for adults with developmental disabilities and create curricula to address their needs.
- Develop, promote and co-facilitate parent/caregiver psychoeducational groups and community workshops.
- Promote JFS Life Skills Program through community outreach and presentations and identify areas of potential collaboration and partnership.
- Collaborate with other JFS programs and Director of Volunteers to expand the JFS supported volunteer life-Skills Program.
- Utilize electronic health record for all services provided and monitor the tracking and analysis of program outcome data; prepare reports including narrative descriptions.
- Other related responsibilities as needed
