We are seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate Special Education Case Manager to join our Falmouth High School team. As a Special Education Case Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful coordination and implementation of Special Education services for students with diverse learning needs. This position involves collaborating with educators, parents, and support staff to create individualized education plans (IEPs), monitor progress, and advocate for the educational rights of students with special needs.
Responsibilities:
Case Management:
- Manage a caseload of students with Special Education needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Coordinate and facilitate the development, review, and revision of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each assigned student.
- Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to determine students' educational needs and progress.
Provide Specially Designed Instruction:
- Individualization: SDI is highly individualized based on the specific needs of each student. It considers factors such as the student's learning style, strengths, weaknesses, and any accommodations required.
- Differentiated Instruction: Teachers use various teaching strategies and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the same classroom. This may involve using visual aids, hands-on activities, or technology to enhance understanding.
- Progress Monitoring: Regular monitoring of the student's progress to assess the effectiveness of the instruction and make adjustments as needed. This ensures that the instructional strategies remain relevant and beneficial.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among parents, teachers, support staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise and advocating for the best interests of students with special needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement inclusive practices and accommodations within the mainstream classroom.
Data Monitoring and Analysis:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to student progress and outcomes.
- Use data to make informed decisions regarding the effectiveness of interventions and strategies in the IEP.
Resource Coordination:
- Identify and secure appropriate resources, materials, and assistive technology to support the implementation of IEPs.
- Connect with external service providers and community resources to enhance the overall support for students.
Professional Development:
- Stay current with Special Education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to continually enhance knowledge and skills.
- Proven experience working in Special Education, with an understanding of the IEP process.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing Special Education.
- Must hold (or be eligible for) the required certification 282 Teacher of Students with Disabilities Grades 7-12
