Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Cloud AI & Advanced Systems Engineering (CAASE) team designs, deploys, and supports innovative platforms and solutions at planet scale, including FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), custom computing accelerators, and storage and network accelerators.
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer with a focus on Lab Systems Administration (SysOp) to join the team. You will be responsible for maintaining our qualification labs and R&D environments used to drive software and firmware development and testing of Azure R&D Hardware platforms with a focus on hardware accelerators and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) devices. The successful candidate will be working with cross-functional teams to ensure device development programs are successful throughout the development process. You will be expected to provide engineering environments to developers ahead of program schedules, work with development teams to meet schedule deadlines for different programs, work with service organizations to provide services to support these programs and help to coordinate and identify solutions for problems throughout the development process.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications :
Site Reliability Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.

Responsibilities
- Instrument prototype servers i.e. serial interfaces and UARTs
- Scripting automation with Python, Bash, Powershell or similar
- Assist with datacenter operations including rack system deployment and maintenance
- Assist with networking and subnet debug and switch configuration
- Help identify where networking issues may exist
- Work with cross-functional teams to ask questions and get things done
- Participate in DevOps and on-call rotations for handling customer-impacting incidents

Qualifications

- 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration
