Primary job duties consist of prepare and package finished product for shipment, assemble wood, cardboard, or other specified materials, receiving, quality, data verification, traffic flow organization and entering data in computer system.
Requirements
- Assemble wood, cardboard, or other specified materials - containers, skids, and other shipping support materials including picking preassembled containers - as specified, or required for the product and orders
- Receive incoming material from external and internal sources
- Use package construction databases to generate cut list and container sizes when required
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
- Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
- Identifies shipping information onto crates or containers
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
- Unload material while safely utilizing forklifts, cranes and pallet jacks
- Routes items to departments
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and- receiving platform to storage or work area
- Follow documented departmental procedures of the Wagstaff Quality System
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure efficiency and productivity
- Abide by company policies
- In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with shipping and receiving of product
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to calculate loads and properly load trailers
- Experience with hand tools, including but not limited to chop saws, drills, and grinders
- Ability to use, read and interpret a tape measure
- Experience in the operation of a forklift, cranes and pallet jacks
- Knowledge of basic carpentry skills

- Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and equipment, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing some job duties, there is a risk of electrical shock and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Job duties may require work in high, precarious places, work in outside weather conditions, and exposure to extreme temperatures in some cases. The noise level in the working environment is often loud. Because of this environment and associated risks, use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.
