BASIC PURPOSE:
The Shipping coordinator works with operations, sales and planning departments to ensure that shipments leave in their scheduled timeframe and arrive at their destination in compliance with customer demands.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:
• Monitors work progress and completion dates to schedules and reports for its progress to ensure shipments are on schedule.
• Works with the supply chain team to negotiate Incoterms with strategic customers and vendors.
• Prepares all International Paperwork as required by Customs and U.S. Law. Insures that the appropriate parties certify documentation and ensure that product is shipped as negotiated.
• Sets up and maintains open accounts with Freight Forwarders and other delivery services. Arranges brokering for Imports/Returns of goods to US.
• Responds to any customer requests for Documentation/information pertaining to the packaging and shipping of their respective orders.
• Contacts forwarders to verify shipment details when needed. Provides shipping estimates as requested.
• Updates status of orders in ERP as necessary, including tracking information.
• Coordinates the activities of the package and shipping employees.
• Works to identify areas for continuous improvement and make recommendations to the management team.
• Works closely with all departments to facilitate the movement of customer orders.
• Performs ancillary duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma required; Business degree or some college classes in business preferred
• Five+ years’ progressive shipping experience required preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent math and reading skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate easily and effectively in English
• Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks independently.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong negotiation skills required
• Ability to think freely and exercise independent judgment.
