Job Summary:
This role's responsibility is to coordinate the preparation of outgoing shipments and the receipt of incoming shipments via rail and trucks, all while ensuring strict adherence to established company standards. Additionally, overseeing the logistics of railcar locations is a key aspect of this position.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform duties in a safe manner.
- Receive and verify all products unloaded from railroad cars, trucks, and trailers; check against suppliers’ count and immediately report discrepancies to carriers and manager.
- Verify and record all items loaded for shipments.
- Maintain shipping records for requested categories.
- Maintain a database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
- Prepare bills of lading for shipments.
- Complete information on damage claims for in-transit damage.
- Responsible for railcar locations on various sites.
- Regularly communicate essential information and report to necessary parties via email.
- Willingness to cross-train in other areas outside of job responsibilities.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and energy level towards teammates, peers, and customers.
- Follow all safety rules, regulations, and procedures set forth by the Federal and State agencies & Zinc Resources LLC policies.
- Perform other duties not directly related to the position and assist fellow workers as requested.
Minimum Education Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
- 1-5 years’ experience in Shipping and Receiving.
- Proficient in PC knowledge.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Strong filing skills.
- Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse procedures.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge and understanding of how to read a Periodic Table.
- Ability to learn rapidly, follow directions, and acquire good work habits such as punctuality, skill, neatness, and dependability.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and across organizational lines.
- Proficient communication skills in English, including reading and understanding.
- Self-starter who can work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
- Service-oriented and a team player with a positive attitude.
- Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer, and other equipment as required.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, etc.
- Must pass a lung function test for respirator use.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, and reach around all areas of equipment.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. to waist level and carry 20 yards.
- Ability to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
- Will work in varied environments (all weather conditions, heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, or dusty conditions).
- Exposure to raw materials, chemicals, solvents, and lubricants.
