PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will work closely with scientists and G&A staff to provide support for daily operations, with an emphasis on shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies. Responsible for tracking and Receiving packages in the procurement software system. Collaborates and communicates with service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products, and other related tasks. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure that our facilities are properly maintained and equipped.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing domestic and international shipments via FedEx, UPS, World Courier, etc.
- Assist with basic maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Assist with collection and removal of bio and chemical waste from labs.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and facilities.
- Respond to service requests and troubleshoot equipment and system failures to identify and resolve issues.
- Assist with office/laboratory moves and relocations.
- Assist with changing process gas cylinders and dewars.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain, stock and organize break rooms.
- Will interface with all departments in the company, including executive management team.
- Provides additional backup support for scientific and administrative departments. (setup for meetings)
- May be in rotation for on-call with other team members for emergencies
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Familiarity with MS Office programs.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience; Life-science industry experience required.
- Experience working with building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC and various lab equipment including incubators, freezers, liquid nitrogen dewars.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Familiarity with MS Office programs.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems a plus.
- Handyman skills also a plus.
- May rotate for on-call.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be comfortable in the laboratory environment and adhere to all the EH&S policies set forth by San Mateo County and our organization.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS, VISUAL ACUITY, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Bending, lifting (sometimes overhead), reaching, setting up meeting rooms and offices, assist in physical event set up, keeping storeroom neat. Physical inventory. Facilities and office moves including crawling underneath desks.
CALIFORNIA PAY DATA INFORMATION:
California law requires pay information in job postings. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience, and other relevant factors. The estimated hourly pay range for this position is $26.27 (entry-level qualifications) to $30.80 (highly experienced).
