Job description

Responsible for providing vision, strategic direction, and leadership for the Location-Based Entertainment (LBE) and Live Entertainment Licensing (LEL), ensuring alignment with Universal Destination & Experience (UDX) and NBCUniversal goals. Oversee development and rollout of innovative concepts, while managing partnerships to maximize profits and guest satisfaction. Foster teamwork and performance, implement efficient processes, and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy Development and Execution:

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy for the LBE and LEL team, aligning with the broader objectives of UDX division.
  • Ensures that the strategy is in line with company goals and objectives, continuously refining it to adapt to market trends and opportunities.


Financial Analysis and Project Evaluation:

  • Collaborates with the Business Development team and other stakeholders to conduct thorough financial analyses of potential projects, ensuring alignment with financial targets and objectives.
  • Utilizes financial data to make informed decisions regarding the viability and profitability of new ventures and projects.


Concept Development and Implementation:

  • Working closely with licensed partners, represents NBCU interests in the conceptualization and development of new shows, exhibitions, and experiences, collaborating closely with internal teams to bring innovative concepts to life.
  • Oversees the seamless approval and rollout of new and existing experiences, ensuring that they meet quality standards and resonates with the target audience.


Relationship Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Leads relationship management with licensed partners, prioritizing profit optimization, show quality enhancement, and guest satisfaction while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Acts as a liaison between Universal and partners, ensuring concerns are addressed and partnerships are maximized, while collaborating with various internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.


Sales and Deal Negotiation:

  • Takes the lead in strategic sales efforts for new partnerships and extensions/enhancements of existing deals, overseeing the negotiation process, and securing necessary approvals.
  • Involves the President, New Ventures, and other key UDX leaders as needed in strategy or deal negotiation.
  • Maximizes show quality and Guest Satisfaction (GSAT) through effective deal-making, negotiations and securing IP approvals.


Team Building and Leadership:

  • Builds and fosters a cohesive team culture characterized by diversity, collaboration, and results-driven performance.
  • Encourages teamwork and cross-functional collaboration across NBCUniversal to achieve collective goals.


Process Implementation and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Implements efficient processes so the team can track the status of work in progress, ensuring transparency and accountability within the team.
  • Keeps stakeholders and leaders within UDX informed of progress, milestones, and any relevant updates.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises and mentors Live Entertainment and licensing team, guiding them to align with strategic objectives and execute initiatives effectively.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong leadership to create a culture and passion for delivering an excellent guest and Team Member experience resulting in positive guest and Team Member satisfaction.
  • Exceptional business acumen. Keen focus on P&L levers, resourceful and creative in achieving financial metrics.
  • Acute attention to detail and proven experience integrating exceptional quality standards across multiple concepts and brand operations.
  • Experience evaluating and analyzing consumer trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communications, organizational and project management skills with strong ability to collaborate across the business.
  • Proven track record of executing and expanding successful concepts as well as experience in driving new innovative concepts, events.
  • Preferably possesses prior experience collaborating with creative partners, licensed intellectual property (IP), and negotiating deals within the entertainment industry.
  • Experience in comparable industries is a plus.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

  • Ability to collaborate and work with multiple departments during all phases of development of new and emerging projects or the rebranding and enhancement of existing venues/experiences.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to anticipate opportunities/issues and implement change to grow the business. 
  • Must possess qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to organizational values.


EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.


EXPERIENCE:  15+ years’ experience leading a world-class team in respective field required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
