JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Vice President, Global Application Technology is a key technology strategy, delivery, and enterprise leadership role responsible for business-critical applications engineering, operations, and integration. This role leads a global team of talented technologists & partners to design, develop, deploy, and support a wide range of mission critical customed developed & out-of-the-box (OOTB) applications and platforms like point-of-sale (POS), eCommerce, digital/onsite payments, finance transformation, guest service & customer relationship management, and digital team member solutions.

This role is responsible for simplifying & modernizing the Application Technology platforms globally and is responsible for leading the enterprise software quality assurance center of excellence that will support all technology initiatives that require testing services globally (functional, integration, and performance/automation). This role will partner closely within Digital Technology, Corporate Technology/Infrastructure/Security, Digital Product/Innovation, PMO; business divisions; and functional support partners like Finance, Sourcing, and HR.

This role will serve as the key leader responsible for a large portfolio of strategic enterprise applications that includes multi-year implementations, delivery, global support; establish and deploy robust organizational processes for application management in North America & Asia; and inspire digital transformation culture through vision, domain expertise, results, and collaboration.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technology Strategy & Delivery
    • Lead and oversee strategic plan for enterprise application design, development, and deployment for UDX globally.
    • Develop relationships with key industry and technology leaders to drive and influence future roadmap of solutions.
    • Drive simple, scalable, flexible, secure, and cost-effective technology design & engineering.
    • Oversee the deployment lifecycle through successful hyper care of newly implemented applications.
    • Proactively lead a complex mixture of internal resources and external partners to achieve both best in class technology solutions while achieving speed to market.
    • Acts as key subject matter expert in the rapid, high quality, and global deployment of large scale, enterprise software applications; manages by mature delivery processes & KPI's
    • Incorporate high quality automation of processes, devops, quality engineering and management release, cloud into every-day work.
  • Platform Stability & Operational/Delivery Excellence
    • Establish and oversee strategy for platform reliability and uptime of Global Application Technology solutions.
    • Develop, implement, and operationalize multiple centers of excellence on key platform technologies that support UDX globally.
    • Drive focus on operational excellence throughout the organization & partners, including (but not limited to) processes, governance, efficient working approaches, collaboration.
    • Ensure positive trend in key performance indicators of Global Application portfolio.
    • Partner with PMO & Product for on-time delivery of solutions, proactively mitigate risk of "scope creep" and business impact during transformational change.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration, Team Culture, Staff Development
    • Lead and mentor direct reports/team members in day-to day management and administration of UPR digital transformation.
    • Provides clear executive decision-making and priority management; coaches and builds confidence in staff to make good business decisions using technology & analytical thinking.
    • Promote working culture of accountability and technology depth to support Universal's physical and virtual business aspirations.
    • Drive Universal Culture of team-member satisfaction through effective communication, planning, risk management, and coaching of high-potential candidates at every level of the organization.
    • Work seamlessly with other Digital and Technology & business unit leaders to architect and build best in class solutions and experiences.
  • Budget Ownership
    • Manage appropriate departmental budgets; review/approve related budget expenditures with "act as an owner" mentality
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree (preferred) in engineering, technology, analytics or related fields.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 20+ years in progressive technology delivery and implementation:
  • 20+ years in global large scale/enterprise application deployment; cross-functional/ERP experience; proven success deploying highly integrated complex applications in a B2C/B2C industry.
  • Executive experience in technology consulting or internal technology strategy/implementations for large, multi-national companies.
  • Prior experience directly managing teams (internal & external) of over 150 people in a global "follow-the-sun" working model.
  • Proven experience building long-term strategic technology partner relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience with application/technology simplification & rationalization in legacy environments; previous experience in "bi-modal" technology environments that combine digital/agile with enterprise/monolithic applications.
  • Experience in executive communication, relationship building and decision making; expert at stakeholder and partner management.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position requires frequent domestic & international travel.
