Vail Health is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer. We are looking for someone who is a collaborative and communicative partner, understands healthcare operations and is excited about working in a community-minded mountain environment. The ideal candidate for the role will be able to navigate the challenging healthcare environment, while guiding the organization to thrive despite the headwinds.
The Chief Financial Officer is a key leader in driving the mission of the organization through strategic leadership over all financial operations. The role plans, organizes, and directs operations including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, revenue cycle, accounts payable, payroll, payor contracting, supply chain management and treasury and investment management
- Works closely with the CEO and executive leadership team proactively to develop and execute long-term financial plans.
- Leads the functions of financial strategy, reporting, revenue cycle, compliance, contract negotiation, supply chain management and budgeting/decision support.
- Develops and implements financial strategies to support the organization's mission and goals.
- Provides strategic leadership and guidance to senior management on financial matters including reviewing and analyzing data to identify areas of improvement and cost savings.
- Manages health system's financial resource Monitors financial transactions to ensure health system maintains tax-exempt status and makes recommendations to preserve tax-exempt status.
- In conjunction with Outsourced Chief Investment Officer, manages Vail Health invested funds and operating accounts to protect Vail Health assets, provide required liquidity, and generate maximum returns within Vail Health risk tolerances and operating needs.
- In conjunction with Chief Information Officer, evaluates and implements all IT systems necessary to meet Vail Health financial information needs and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with leaders to develop effective budgets and cost determination. Reviews and modifies health system charges and data collection and modifies cost structure to ensure maximum operation margin for patient services.
- Directs financial reporting such as forecasting and modeling ensuring internal controls and external reporting is met.
- Strong communicator who guides the organization and the Board through the budgeting process and quarterly updates, adjusting for internal performance and external pressures
- Strategic partner in key programs such as employee benefits plan additions or changes, general salary increases, etc.
- Leads and mentors the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development. Establishes performance goals and allocates resources to maximize the strength of the team.
- Reviews and approves finance departments' operating budgets and ensures that departments operate within budgets.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends.

- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration and verbal, interpersonal, and quantitative skills normally acquired through completion of this degree is required. Masters degree (MBA) is preferred.
