OVERVIEW:
F.M. Browns Sons is a family owned and operated company since 1871. George Brown, the original pioneer of F.M. Browns Sons purchased a grist mill and started selling farm animal feed and flour from the wheat he grew on his land. His hard work and passion have grown into a six-generation company specializing in high quality products including pet food, wild bird, farm animal feed, flour and grass seed. We are one of the few 6th generation family owned and operated companies in the country. We pride ourselves on our rich history, integrity, and tradition.
We are currently seeking a Senior Vice President (SVP) of our Feed Division in Birdsboro, PA to continue our legacy of providing high quality products. The SVP will have a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership and drive the profitability of the Feed Division. The SVP oversees daily operations to include the business office, sales team, and production and works closely with the Division President and Vice President of Sales and Marketing to ensure customers are being served effectively and profitably.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives Feed Divisions profitability by developing overall, as well as customer specific, sales and marketing strategies that are designed to increase volume (tons of feed) of sales of products at the highest profit margins, while producing to high quality standards utilizing existing equipment and capabilities.
- Establishes and achieves sales budgets through collaboration with the Divisional President, VP, and others, as necessary.
- Establishes overall sales goals for the Feed Division sales force and provides support to drive performance.
- Collaborates with VP to plan and conduct essential training for sales force and participates in sales meetings to ensure all team members have awareness of any issues, as well as opportunities that might impact their performance.
- Oversees sales reporting/analyses.
- Drives business process improvement through streamlined processes and automation.
- Develops, manages, and reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Plays a lead role in gathering relevant information (production capabilities, costs, any special equipment needed, storage, and delivery requirements, etc.) to determine if the feed mill will quote on new business opportunities.
- Collaborates with VP of Marketing/Sales to design a streamlined salesforce compensation plan which serves as a major incentive for sales team members to perform desired tasks and produce the most highly desired sales.
- Represents the company at various trade shows, through participation in trade associations and in other public venues as requested.
- Oversees development of promotional materials and advertising required to support the sales effort.
- Participates in the Feed Divisions Strategic Planning Team.
- Maintains a high level of awareness about emerging markets and market shifts, the competitive environment, and provides input regarding new products that are within the feed mills production capabilities.
- Performs any other duties as assigned in such a way as to perpetuate the success and profitability of the feed mill operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited university/college; concentration in Agricultural Business and/or Animal Science preferred.
- Experience as a senior level leader.
- Small family business experience preferred.
- Proven financial acumen.
- Knowledge of the sales process.
- Knowledge of dairy nutrition and general dairy farm management, agronomy and general field crop management a plus.
- Knowledge of feed manufacturing operation a plus.
- Understanding of pertinent industry standards, statutes, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Experience in all aspects of small business management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
