SUMMARY
Firefly is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to assist in the design and development our growing server infrastructure which is highly distributed across campuses, launch sites, and ground stations. This position is a highly unique opportunity to apply Information Technology skills and experience to support systems and teams responsible for putting launch vehicles in orbit.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service
- Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
- Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
- Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
- Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, and endpoints
- Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
- Lead and provide governance over team projects and responsibilities
- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
- Integrate new hardware and software into existing infrastructure
- Perform server administration, hardware maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Maintain system evaluations and certifications
- Facilitate in the creation and maintenance of Identity and Device Management
- Create and maintain images for servers and endpoints
- Provide platform administration for Linux based applications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Previous working experience as a Linux Systems Administrator for 10 year(s) or more with proven track record for taking on new challenges.
- In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, etc.
- Extensive experience with VMWare, Veeam Backup, and network storage management and concepts
- Expert in PowerShell, Perl, and/or Python scripting
- Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
- Ensure timely deployment of software updates
- Create, update and maintain Standard Operating Procedure and knowledge base documentation for software deployment, imaging and patching
- Integrate new hardware and software into existing infrastructure
- Perform server administration, hardware maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Identity and Device Management (ie: Active Directory, Single Sign on)
- Rotational after-hours support with 24/7 pager duty
- Ability to install hardware in Data Center racks and ensure redundant power & networking and proper labeling (Rack & Stack)
Desired
- Able to configure & support Container based technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, etc)
- Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
- Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
