The Senior System Administrator responsibilities include managing the internal and external firewall, server, and network infrastructures, monitoring system performance, and configuring new software and hardware. This position will also mentor our Help Desk team and other IT team members. The Sr. Systems Administrator is ultimately responsible for ensuring our software, hardware, servers, and networks run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and Monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain server operating systems and system management tools.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks and/or points of failure, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Manage and maintain VMWare environment.
- Will be the backup Admin for the SCCM Server environment.
- Learn how to build SCCM images as well as maintain and install the images.
- Provide 2nd level support to the help desk.
- Provide training to new IT personnel.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for server setup, configuration, and problem resolution.
- Setup, configure, and maintain firewalls for both internal company and external customers.
- Setup, configure, and maintain network equipment for both internal company and external customers.
- Maintain Active Directory infrastructure.
- Setup, configure, and maintain wireless networks both internally and externally.
- Ensure technical documentation is updated and maintained.
- Backup to Help Desk for Overflow as well as mentoring Help Desk Personnel.
Skills and Specifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in Computer Science, CIS or related field or certificate in technology training or combination of training and experience.
- Microsoft and/or VMWare certification strongly preferred
- Minimum 6 years technical experience with Servers and workstations
- Well versed in group policy
- Experience with AD/LDAP user and group administration
- Experience in planning and executing disaster recovery procedures
- Extensive knowledge in server 2012r2/2016/2019 and Windows 10/11 OS
- Experience with VMWare and/or Hyper-V technologies
- Experience with network and server security
- Experience with network/server monitoring tools
- US Citizenship required to access server designated for DOD / DFARS compliance
- Good problem-solving and communication skills
- Team management abilities
- Flexible to work outside of schedule, including nights and/or weekends as needed
