Who We Are
We are looking for a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to support Stryker’s Medical Division. This role is focused on new product development and Product Engineering supporting our Vocera products.

This role is hybrid, in San Jose, CA with the expectation to come into the office 5 days a week with flexible hours.

As a Senior Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop new products, sustain existing products, and troubleshoot production and quality issues. This individual will be part of a team consisting of mechanical, electrical, acoustic, RF, and firmware engineers. This is a hands-on design and development position that interfaces with engineers, QA, manufacturing, and external vendors and consultants.
- Hands on design for Stryker communication products and accessories from research to production.
- Perform design analysis, including TA, DFM, DFA, MF, FEA DFMEA, etc to ensure design quality.
- Work closely with industrial design team on user research and provide technical support.
- Work with cross functional team on concept idealizations and provide feasibility feedbacks.
- Work closely with JDM partner and suppliers on design iterations.
- Work closely with EE team on electrical-mechanical design
- Work with suppliers to prototype, tool, and bring parts into high volume manufacturing.
- Create product test plans, perform product testing, and analyze test result data.
- Specify manufacturing processes for new products in conjunction with the Operations group.
- Manage and maintain design related documentations: ECOs, BOMs, drawings, 3D data, etc.
- Root cause and provide corrective actions for failures which include manufacturing, field, and testing.
- Support sustaining activities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related
- 6+ years of work experience
Preferred
- Hands on design experience on complex wearable products.
- Experience with mechanical CAD packages - solid modeling, drawings, surfacing, simulation and complex assemblies, SolidWorks preferred.
- Experience in developing and optimizing complex designs for mechanical / electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principles
- Experience in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAE tools to optimize the design
- In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing and processing methods and technologies to support complex product development
- Ability to communicate complex plans and technical information to team members
- Experience with the design of parts and knowledge of DFM for injection molding, machining, and stamping.
- Knowledgeable of other manufacture process, like die cut, compression molding, MIM, IML, printing, etc.
- Experience bringing products into manufacturing, with specific experience in high volume production.
- Hands on skills to build early prototypes to proof the concept.
- Ability to perform solid design analysis, such as TA, and FEA.
- Experience working with ODM, JDM, and contract manufacturers.
