Resilience is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team, responsible for spearheading the design and development of state-of-the-art laboratory instruments, consumables, and microfluidics architectures. As a key member of our interdisciplinary engineering group, you will have the opportunity to lead groundbreaking projects at the intersection of Mechanical Engineering, fluidics, and biochemistry. With a focus on precision, reliability, and user experience, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of biomanufacturing. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of instruments, consumables, and microfluidics architectures for cutting-edge biomanufacturing equipment.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, electrical engineering, firmware engineering, biochemistry, and bioinformatics to integrate mechanical components seamlessly into overall system designs.

  • Conceptualize, model, and prototype innovative mechanical solutions for complex fluid handling and control systems.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate design concepts and propose optimizations.

  • Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation to support manufacturing and assembly processes.

  • Conduct performance testing and validation of mechanical components and systems, analyzing data and implementing improvements as needed.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interdisciplinary team members.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Mechanical Engineering, instrument design, and microfluidics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, OnShape) for 3D modeling and drafting.

  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on instrument design and microfluidics architectures.

  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical principles relevant to microfluidics systems.

  • Experience designing and optimizing consumable components for laboratory instrumentation, such as microfluidic chips or cartridges.

  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques, including 3D printing and CNC machining.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards relevant to medical devices or laboratory equipment (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA regulations).

  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation software.

  • Previous leadership or project management experience in engineering product development.

  • Familiarity with principles of microfabrication and MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology.

  • Experience in Agile and/or Product Development Process (PDP).
