For our R&D laboratory in Devens, MA we wish to hire one Senior Scientist, Analytical Chemistry, reporting to the R&D Manager
Primary Responsibilities
- Demonstrate safety leadership in all activities and actively contribute to group safety culture by participating in and leading safety reviews
- Collaborate with synthetic chemists to enable discovery of new chemicals, new synthetic routes and development of new chemical processes
- Develop sampling techniques to support real-time analysis for chemical process development and scale up
- Investigate new analytical techniques to support development, process monitoring, and quality control
- Serve as in house expert and internal technical resource to manage outside analytical vendors and consultants
- Develop written procedures and protocols for our in-house analytical instruments (currently FTIR, GC-MS, UV-VIS, and in the future ICP-MS and NMR)
- Prepare reports demonstrating measurements systems capabilities
- Establishment of wet chemistry analytical techniques.
- Participate in the hiring and training of quality control technicians
- Train and mentor co-workers.
- Help keep the lab clean and organized.
Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field
- At least seven years’ experience with analytical method development
- Expertise in at least three of the following analytical techniques: NMR, GC-MS, FT-IR, Raman, ICP-MS
- Experience with statistics packages used for metrology validation and statistical process control
- Experience with LIMS software implementation
- Experience with metrology validation / measurement systems analysis
- Experience implementing real-time process monitoring equipment in a factory environment is a plus
- Experience with analysis of air sensitive materials is a plus
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or the semiconductor industries is a plus
