Your Role:
We are looking for an early career scientist to join our Food Science and Product Development team. You will report directly to the VP of Food Science and Product Development, and support scientists on the team in a range of activities, including intermediate-scale protein purification, characterization of material properties, development of food formulations and small scale production of food prototypes, and other as needed. Our ideal candidate has good fundamental knowledge in the relevant fields (chemistry, biochemistry, physics, Food Science), is experienced in doing hands-on research in a wet lab, and most importantly, is quick and eager to learn a broad variety of new skills.
Responsibilities:
- Support scientists on the team in performing experiments, primarily (but not exclusively) focused on characterization of material properties, small scale production of food prototypes, and intermediate-scale protein purification;
- Support preparation for sensory panel testing of prototypes, including preparation and serving of food samples;
- Collect and analyze data, keep good experimental records and regularly create experimental reports;
- Help with the upkeep of the lab and kitchen spaces, adhering to good manufacturing practices (GMP);
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BS or MS in a relevant field (chemistry, biochemistry, chemical or biological engineering, physics, Food Science, and related).
- Hands-on experience working in a wet lab (4 years for BS degree, 2 years for MS or similar)..
- Willingness to be a flexible member of a multi-functional team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to support several projects in parallel, effectively multitasking.
- Travel: 20% or less.
Closing:
The pay range is currently between $80,000 to $110,000 annual gross compensation. Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
