EMCORE Corporation is seeking a Project Manager, Inertial Sensors to lead product development projects with significant complexity, risk, and impact for our Aerospace and Defense business segment. Maintain an overview and understanding of technical interdependencies in order to proactively identify solutions to complex problems. Actively manage our key stakeholders in a dynamic environment including negotiating tradeoffs and schedule risks. Conduct forward-thinking risk management and identify possible mitigation measures and backup scenarios. Continuously assess progress and adjust the project plan with the given boundary conditions to ensure that goals are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the Project Management functional areas, ensuring an accountable, efficient, and consistent project execution.
- Oversee the risk, cost, and schedule objectives across the group for all projects.
- Primary point of contact to project stakeholders and contributors, providing regular updates.
- Contribute to business requirements gathering and documentation as well as project business case analysis, ensuring projects are aligned to Company goals.
- Define and deploy R&D excellence initiatives.
- Establish and maintain synchronized R&D KPI's and reporting system for project portfolio.
- Drive best-practice sharing, lessons learned and benchmarking.
- Drive change management to leverage synergies across the business line and develop new approaches that improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of all R&D functions.
- Develop and maintain a project management team to ensure the availability of expertise and experienced personnel needed to meet the project demands.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Emcore expects that this position will have a starting salary range of $160k to $180k.
- This position is onsite and is located at our facility in Concord, CA.
- 10+ years of management and similar project management experience.
- Experience with a project management tool for planning and reporting.
- Experience in government subcontracting requirements.
- Strong understanding of R&D environment and processes.
- Proven customer relationship management experience.
- In-depth project management knowledge in terms of project initiation, planning and closing including reporting and documentation.
- Understanding and structuring complex project situations.
- Drive for ambitious results and accountability of business needs.
- Ability to work cross-departmentally in order to achieve common business objectives.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering.
Desired Characteristics:
- Managing crisis situations and consolidating and presenting those to senior management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or relevant project management credentials a plus.
- Masters in Business Administration (BMA) a plus.
