Why You'll Love This Role
Cribl is expanding its Legal team to meet Cribl's rapidly growing needs. This role will lead the Legal team's product support work, including the Legal team's intellectual property, privacy and product compliance functions. This leadership role will be a key stakeholder across the company and will work cross-functionally with the Product and engineering teams, as well as stakeholders in, finance, business operations, people, sales, and marketing. This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer.
If You Got It - We Want It
- Provide expert legal advice and support to all business units on product-related legal issues, including without limitation support related to privacy, intellectual property, security, technical standards and audits, and related issues, as well as business-minded problem-solving with a focus on providing available options, discussing risks for options, and executing on options the client selects.
- Manage Cribl's patent, trademark, and copyright programs, including without limitation by partnering with the engineering and product teams in enhancing Cribl's patent portfolio.
- Manage Cribl's privacy program in partnership with the security team, including maintaining and updating policies, notices, and commercial agreements in response to developments in applicable data privacy laws and industry standards.
- Provide expert legal advice and support to the executive team on product-related legal issues, including without limitation the impact to Cribl's business operations from changes in domestic or international laws and changes to applicable privacy and intellectual property standards.
- Provide expert legal advice and support to the marketing team on materials and communications related to Cribl's products.
- Manage outside counsel's work on privacy, intellectual property and related product support issues.
- Support, draft, and update commercial agreements, including negotiating privacy and product-related issues in connection with sales negotiations.
- Coordinate with relevant business teams and other internal legal teams on legal and other cross-functional issues.
- Participate as a team player and supervise legal team members as assigned.
- All other responsibilities, duties, functions, and activities as assigned, including without limitation providing general legal support as needed concerning other areas of the business.
As An Active Member Of Our Team, You Will Bring....
- At least seven years of relevant legal experience at a top law firm or in-house, or a combination of both, with a minimum of four years of legal experience in product, or intellectual property law; experience in artificial intelligence is a plus.
- Experience with patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation; experience with international patent issues is a plus.
- Knowledge of state and federal privacy and data protection laws and international regulations, including without limitation the General Data Protection Regulation for the European Union and the United Kingdom, as well as state privacy and data protection laws like the California Privacy Rights Act.
- Experience with cloud and software technology and a strong desire to work on legal issues in these areas.
- Experience in acquiring a deep understanding of technology products or other significant experience with technology, including without limitation academic or practical experience with computer engineering, mathematics, or science.
- Experience with supporting cross-functional teams in a legal role.
- Juris Doctorate and relevant license to practice law in good standing.
- CIPP/E/US certification is a plus.
Salary Range ($141,000 - $242,000)
The salary for this role is dependent on geographic location. The salary offered within the range described will be based on the individual candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
