STV Incorporated is seeking an Oil & Gas Senior Operations Manager/Project Manager with 15+ years of relevant experience with an engineering degree from an accredited engineering school and their PE license. The successful candidate will be a strong leader and a proven oil & gas seller/doer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with clients on a regular basis, contribute to business development efforts, manage projects and mentor younger staff all while leading the overall operation of the Houston, TX Oil & Gas staff. The successful candidate will perform technical oversight, contract management, technical and cost proposal development, project performance and client management. This is an excellent role for a creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented professional that enjoys leading and growing a team!
This position offers a leadership role at an Engineer News-Record (ENR) Top 50 rated firm. This individual would assist other senior staff in collaborating on various energy projects. The ideal candidate is an individual who desires to lead through example, is professionally respected, an excellent communicator, and possesses a vast understanding of project delivery process.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage Houston, TX Energy staff.
- Manage and lead selected projects.
- Prepare technical and cost proposals to win work
- Ensure projects meet or exceed forecasted profit margins.
- Manage staff utilization by scheduling, monitoring and revising assignments, providing leadership and direction by mentoring and motivating staff
- Work with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and clear project delivery plans.
- Proactively drive safety and ensure that health and safety practices are maintained.
- Maintain quality of project deliverables produced by the Energy staff in Houston and other STV locations.
- Carry out periodic and end of phase/project reviews and audits with the contractors and design teams to ensure that lessons learned are captured, shared and used to inform/improve future project delivery.
- Foster and manage client relationships to help procure new business. Some evenings will be spent at professional society meetings; where you will work to develop and maintain relationships with key clients, teaming partners, and potential technical staff hires.
Qualifications Required:
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering major. Preferably mechanical or civil
- Minimum of 15 years' experience working with and managing energy/oil & gas projects. 5+ years of project and staff management experience.
- Proven track record of delivering Energy/Oil & Gas Projects ranging from $500k to $50 million or more.
- Strong technically based leadership skills with proficient understanding of multi engineering disciplines and technical design standards.
- Strong project management skills. Ability to plan and coordinate work effort needed to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to form effective relationships
