Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Community Center Coordinator the Senior Nutrition Specialist oversees the Nutrition Program Administration and Nutrition guidelines in accordance with Aging and Independence Services (AIS) and California Article 34. This includes preparing nutritional monthly menus, monthly meal planning summaries, client screening, conducting nutrition education with seniors, conducting mandated AIS in-service training, daily meal reservation, oversight of food safety standards, quality control of meals being served, reviewing site documentation for accuracy, certification of food handlers, and all monthly reporting. Assist with the supervision of the nutrition staff to ensure program is meeting standards in accordance with Senior Congregate Nutrition Program and AIS.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Maintains accurate daily meal reservations, coordination between sites, reviewing site documentation for accuracy, and create driver's deliverables paperwork.
- Good mathematical skills and record keeping abilities are required. D
- Develop reports to keep track of daily, weekly, monthly incomes and donations, and conduct daily deposits with minor errors.
- Complete monthly menu nutrition forms to submit to S.D. County and complete monthly menu graphic.
- Create and mail meal summary to homebound seniors as mandated by AIS for possible contributions.
- Data Entry: Entry of daily route deliverables (meals, seniors served) to daily, monthly, unduplicated, frozen meal report, and Q County reports.
- Conduct daily client calls as part of To-Go Meal program.
- Assist in scheduling and conducting quarterly visits/assessments with the seniors within the Home Meal Delivery Program and Congregate sites as needed.
- Conducts initial and annual intakes for initial/continual use of AIS Program and check for senior's wellbeing.
- Reports immediately any concerns regarding participant safety through well-developed work plan.
- Assist clients in making contact for needed services by way of periodic surveys, monitoring of the suggestion box, personal interaction, and other means.
- Able to drive safely in all weather conditions.
- Assist with driver duties as needed.
- Assist to coordinate and implement activities for senior lunch.
- Assist in conducting and/or establishing outreach opportunity to promote Senior Nutrition Lunch.
- Follow food safety guidelines to promote safe food handling.
- Follow process for Mandated Reporter.
- Participates in MHCC and SY Health events and activities such as health fairs, outreach, and fundraising events.
- Works in collaboration with MHCC Staff promoting a positive team, positive customer service, and aiding in any MHCC areas, as needed for smooth operations.
- Understands and works Saturdays, extended hours, and cooperates with all schedule changes.
- Ability to relate to the public regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, and economic status with concern and patience.

Job Requirements:
Education Required (Minimum level of education): High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Certifications/Licenses Preferred: Current CPR Certification,
Current Food Handler Card, and Current Driver License in the State of
California or License from legal residence state. Proof of vehicle
registration and vehicle insurance. Clean driver's record. Must have
reliable transportation and vehicle large enough to carry a large
amount of coolers for Senior meals.
Experience Required (Minimum level of experience):
Preferred: 1-2 years working with seniors
Verbal and Written Skills Required to perform the Job:
Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish/English)
