The Senior Mgr-Logistics & Trade Compliance is responsible for leading the Logistics Team in the planning/execution of logistics, warehousing, and transportation strategies to cost-effectively provision the fleet worldwide. This Leader will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Trade Compliance matters and will lead all Trade Compliance improvement initiatives, including systems, procedures, processes and controls!

What You Will Do

  • Lead Logistics team planning/executing logistics, warehouse and transportation strategies to cost effectively provision fleet worldwide.
  • Negotiate and contract freight forwarders, ocean carriers, Full truckload, LTL carriers internationally.
  • Serve as primary liaison with appropriate government agencies responsible for import/export.
  • Responsible for identifying benefits through tariff strategies, utilization of free trade agreements, and other available trade programs for functions related to tariff classification and country of origin.
  • Lead duty recovery and avoidance programs, such as repair valuation, returned goods, duty drawback and others to see to optimal benefits, while limiting company risk.
  • Establish a process for the preparation of export documents including commercial invoices, packing list, bills of lading, and shippers letter of instructions to verify compliance and timely delivery/release!
  • Develop, maintain and perform regulatory compliance audits.
  • The role will be responsible for establishing process improvements through the use of trade automation techniques that help strategically align/optimize global trade management activities
  • Act as the company subject matter expert regarding Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations and using the FTZ for the benefit of improved Trade Compliance and duty savings.
  • Revise established compliance policies and practices in accordance with changing legal framework and business models, seek out automation opportunities.
  • Lead technology initiatives to automate/improve operations in Logistics and Compliance areas. (e.g., Transportation Management System) Development and implementation of Disney Cruise Line® standard operating procedures for import and export compliance.
  • Ongoing review of operations within logistics, merchandise and distribution to determine if adequate and cost-effective internal controls are in place to properly classify, value, and correctly enter through Customs.
  • Develop, implement and maintain import/export compliance procedures. Work with legal department to obtain advice on complex legal issues.
  • SMS responsibility for upholding the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Safety Management System within the areas under their control

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 plus years of professional experience in international trade and regulatory compliance
  • An expert in tariff classifications, with emphasis in the tools such as Informed Compliance Publications, Explanatory Rules, Rulings, court cases, etc.
  • Understanding of the Dynamics of international commerce including export/import processes, national and foreign statutory and regulatory provisions, tariff and non-tariff barriers
  • Economic, market, political and other factors influencing trade objectives and positions
  • Strong familiarity with Customs Agency, government and other programs related to foreign trade
  • Hard-working: Highly motivated by cause, rewarded by attained results
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years proven experience within Logistics and Compliance
  • Cruise line industry preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in supply chain logistics/distribution, finance, accounting, international business, or a similar field of study.
